If I came with a warning label, what would it be?

This took... much longer than expected. Side effect of a lot happening in the last game.

Special thanks to [info]slwatson and [info]pyat, who both helped me edit this. I was really worried about typos because of the length. Long log is long.

I finally picked up Borderlands yesterday as part of the sale that Future Shop and Best Buy are running right now on video games - buy two, get one free. My plan was to get the two other games as Christmas presents (thus, in theory, Borderlands would only have cost me $20 or so), but my brother asked for a specific game and I had to go to four stores before I could find a copy. I finally found it at Future Shop in Leaside, which is close to the apartment but always feels like its on the far side of the moon.

One of my old WoW friends, Cris, was trying to convince me to want to play it waaaay back in summer (the release was a few months off then), although it took Mike showing me it at his house the other weekend to really get my butt in gear and get it. The main reason was so a bunch of us could get on Live, party up and run the game as a huge group. Right now Mike and I are set up, although Cris needs to get the game still.

Mike and I tried it last night and it was an exercise in failure, but an AMAZING one. I was throughly amused by us taking on missions FAR above our level and trying to proc Second Winds over and over again when we got overwhelmed. I saw that death animation so many times that it really started to become funny; your character has this prolonged death scene where your character slowly flops on the ground and the screen blurs and fades to black, all while you can still fight. Reason for that being that if you kill something during this time, you get to pop up to steady health. It's dramatic the first time, but then just loses all meaning. "Dying! WE NEED TO KILL SOMETHING! Ah, better now!"

Plus the snarky comments that the characters yell at each other make me laugh my butt off in co-op mode. XD

I've heard that the storyline is lightweight and really goofy at times, although the co-op mode takes an edge off of this. I am playing with old WoW buddies, so that might explain my logic in turning a blind eye to the storytelling. It was quite an annoying flaw over on WoW as well, but at least I know there's an ending here.

Mostly links for Pyat, based on discussions from the car ride.

Valhalla Inn photos from after the place closed:

Some Interesting Yorkdale Mall photos. I know the general comments made were based on the outside, but you should see older pictures of the inside:

That ceiling is so bizarre and right out of 2001.

There's also the Yorkdale subway station, although this reminds me more of Blade Runner and, oddly enough, PoG for some reason:

Today was Geeksgiving!

We all went up to [info]wggthegnoll and [info]ruiskafleck's place for a big dinner. So much awesome food and times were had by all, like the camera war (I was so blind by the end of it) and the endless stream of food. I was so stuffed by the end. I really shouldn't have eaten all that much. ::flops and rolls over::

Hee, I wanted to sample something from everything people brought in, but then I forgot there was pie afterward. And then I forgot there was chocolate after that. And then we were in the basement and more stuff was getting passed around... oh, wait, that was just [info]j0no and I in the back row. That might explain why we were so bouncy compared to the rest of you. Or we were insane. o_O

[info]pyat unleashed the Rifftrax version of the Star Wars Holiday Special on people after dinner, which I sadly did have a hand in pulling off. I torrented the DVD image, but showing it at the party was Pyat's idea. Soooooooooorry, please don't egg my aparment. I think I have a higher tolerance for this kind of thing than most people, really. I blame years in the MST3K fandom.

We got to the bus station and I can't remember who suggested it, but we asked Pyat to drive us home. And Erin let him! Success! Was a fun drive and much nicer than fighting the TTC late at night. I got home around 11 instead of closer to midnight. We did narrowly miss a car crash, though - a car plowed into an empty storefront over on Eglinton.

I did some chatting with Pyat about the RP game on the drive home. Mostly about... boring stuff concerning some character changes. Heh. Also talked to [info]kores_rabbit about maybe doing some bluebooking for the game later, if she's still around as a PC. Might be up for others too, although I'm not sure if anyone is interested.

It's 2am and I'm cooking for Geeksgiving and watching MST3K. It's awesome!

"Any fruit to declare?... ANY *FRUIT* TO DECLARE?!?!"

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Also, the pan I bought for the food? Is so big I had to shift it in an odd way to make it fit in the oven. o.o

And it has to do with the Star Wars game. ;)

Okay, I was allowed to post about this OOCly - I asked Pyat if its giving away too much and he said I could OOCly post about it. He did warn that: "if it's another player... hee hee hee."

I've been working through a character log and something sickening clicked in my head (and my character's, in theory, although not to the same extent). Something isn't right with what's going on. Things are clicking far too well into place for the Imperials at the moment.

Current theory: SOMEONE ABOARD THE YGRAINE IS AN IMPERIAL SPY! WHICH ONE OF YOU IS IT?!

Speculating and Considering How This Plays Out )

That's my thoughts on the whole mess. I could be going insane, personally, but things just aren't adding up. o_O

Important details first!

I finally got off my lazy rear and am in the process of switching my main geekdom email to:
commanderteddog AT gmail DOT com

If you have any contacts for me, please update them accordingly. I'll still be looking after the old Yahoo account so that I don't lose anything, but I'm right now in the process of switching the more important stuff and generally day-to-day use over to Gmail.

The process strikes me as nostalgic and a touch sad. My email has been teddog_3000 over on Yahoo since 1999. I still remember how cool I thought I was at the time! I had an EMAIL account! Yes, it was a lame email account with a number, but at least the number was fandom related!

Actually, Teddog_3000 WAS my screenname for all of a week. I would have been Teddog from the get-go, but the name was taken. And then it became Teddog after.

The amusing aside to all this is that CommanderTeddog seems to be slowly becoming my second online name. Some people call me the whole thing in person, which used to weird me out (mostly because of the fandom connection there) but I'm cool with it now. I just got used to it over time. Plus, I use CommanderTeddog on LJ, AIM, dA and now on gmail. More or less the places where I can't get "Teddog" for whatever reason.

In other news, finally finished my stupidly long character log. Yeah, I totally wrote too much. It might show up early tomorrow.

I keep forgetting to post this. AURGH!

First off, I realize that some people on my flist don't celebrate Christmas, but I really don't want to exclude people from my idea. Note that it's not Christmas/holiday themed doodles but generally giving little presents to good friends at the end of the year.

Okay, I want to write cards for people, but because I have friends who celebrate other winter holidays and don't want to leave people out, I wanted to do something different than standard cards.

So, I got a pack of those little art trading card things and want to mail those out instead! With cute little personalized doodles on them! But, because they're personalized, I need you to leave me a comment about what you'd like on it and where I should mail the card. I'll draw online personas, WoW characters, cute and fluffy little animals, that sort of thing. I can draws cute little stuffs!

Please note that asking for a card doesn't mean that you need to give something back to me. This is especially the case if you're not giving out cards yourself and feel guilty about asking for something. No guilt here! I forbid it! D:

So, if you're interested in receiving a little card from me, leave me a comment. They're screened, so don't worry about sharing your address. :D

Kinda. I put the flats in it, but I didn't put any shading in it. I was tired and frustrated, so the end result is more like a reference sheet.

I'm not happy with the helmet and all. Actually, I'm not really happy with a lot of it, but it is what it is. I think it works as a reference pic.

Anyone have any recipes?

Pyat: Dirty FourPair!

At the rate we're picking up crew members, we're going to be able to reenact the ending from Buckaroo Banzai eventually.

But yes, art. Since we have a new crew member for at least the next while, played by the lovely [info]kores_rabbit, I figured I should get started on those crew sketches again. Here's a rough sketch of the Erin's character Jo (I think...?), the Ygraine's heavy and a REALLY good shot with a laser cannon. :)

I drew a parody sketch of her a while back and actually refined it into something workable for the game.

You Know the Drill )

Coloured version coming soon.

I'm going to the art store on my way to work and I blame Cats and Moment for this!

I also blame payday, but that's much less fun to blame.

Because some people were asking about the Brazil thing and I figured I'd toss this up for my own records.

Okay, allergies have finally kicked into overdrive. I need to get me to Shoppers because I'm feeling really sick and it's making me miserable. I also need new headphones, since the puppy decided that mine were a chewtoy last night. He thought the same about my bra too. -_-

Gaming last night with [info]pyat, [info]velvetpage, [info]momentrabbit, [info]catsarah, [info]sassy_fae, [info]nottheterritory and introducing [info]koresrabbit in a cameo appearence, although we kidnapped her character and took it with us so we could have a better droid. It was an awesome session - lots of table talk, but we got a ton done and there were some great character bits (and by "great" I mean "completely insane"). I'm cool with table talk, although I sometimes find it hard to heard what the GM is saying because my brain is wired odd and I can't really block out non-GM chatter on the first go. Focus is poopy. Thankfully Pyat is good at repeating for me. :D

I also got to discover the wonderfulness that is O'Neils, a little local fast food joint that's down on Barton. Loved the burger and fries that I got there and I'll probably suggest returning there in later games. XD

Anywho, next on the grand adventure, we landed at mining outpost to meet up with our new contact, discovered that the staff turnover on the outpost was because a stormtrooper squad replaced them, quickly ran off to avoid said squad, raced another ship to claim an asteroid, discovered that said asteroid contained some sort of landing bay, a newsreel that explained some plot points (GIANT FLOATING HEAD) and, most importantly, some sort of portal link to the ghost ship that we saw the game before this one. We left off with the tech discovering that the ghost ship's systems were offline after a power surge and each needed to be restarted manually. So, yeah, A LOT happened.

I'm working on a log (anyone actually read those, lol?), but it won't be finishing until late tonight because I'm busy today. Not sure if I'm going to take Pyat's suggestion and put in some third person narrative bits or switch to a third person style completely. The exercise was originally to help me get into my character's messed up little head. I'm really not going to force myself into a scribe position because my character's mindset is so twisted towards the rest of the crew and it effects how I see the other character in play. Well, that's a lie - I think Kyrie can stand Moment and Erin's characters and there's some grudging respect for Catsarah's character. And Des's character can make club sandwiches and tea, so that can't be all bad.

Going to hang out with Mike and Lisa and play board games today. Once I get meds. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

In the Hammer for the weekend!

Trip in was nasty. Apparently the QEW was closed (or should have been close) because of a major crash at Dixie, resulting in the GO bus going across the 427-401-403-407 to get to Hamilton. -_-

I went out to dinner with Kate when we came back. She showed me this decent All-You-Can-Eat sushi and dim sum place downtown. I'm on the wary side of AYCE sushi, although this place seemed more than decent. The flip side is that it was PACKED. I've never seen an AYCE sushi place with a line out the door. Service was impressive too, without the attitude that I've had at normal sushi places before. Quality was about what you could expect from a place like this. Price was on the high end too, really, especially for downtown Hamilton.

We went home after and Spence and I watched the DVD version of the second Star Wars Robot Chicken special along with some of the special features and the first disc of Tylor. The downside - I taught him what a cosplayer was because he asked. His reaction? "THAT'S SO COOL!". Kate's reaction? "YOU CORRUPTED HIM!"

I'm just chilling on the couch now. The kittens come to visit me very so often and purr like motorboats - Jag and Sherbet got BIG. Jag has mostly filled out and he's lost most of his kitten look, although he still has some in the face. Sherbet appears to have actually grown, but she's still kitten sized. She still has an attitude problem too, pouncing on Jag and Sneakers the dog whenever she feels bored. The way her fur flops across her eyes makes it look like she's scrutinizing the situation at hand and the combo with her attitude is hilarious.

It seems I forgot my allergy meds. Last night was hell, but it seems to have mellowed out.

In a better mood somewhat now. Bad morning vibes seemed to have lifted.

I can't remember if someone linked this to me or if I found it on a forum, but it's an EXCELLENT mashup.

Looks like it came out of the Japanese end of the fandom. I'm a terrible person and laughed at Rosa being BEST MOTHER EVER while everyone else is showing off their combat skills.
