Uh....?

I thought I'd actually watch the Ontario Election Leader's debate, so I'm doing that now.  And I keep getting more and more annoyed.

The first question is the question that seems to have become the focus of this election's campaign, that of funding private religious schools.  I love that education has become one of the predominant issues of the campaign.  But the way the leaders are going about it...

John Tory.  The Conservatives.  Everyone knows the Conservatives have not been the favourite party of Ontario teachers.  But here he is in this campaign, heralding a new age where Ontario public education includes faith based schools other than Catholic ones.  He rebuffs McGuinty's point that doing so will hurt the multicultural system we have now where students all learn together.  He says it does bring them, because they become part of the public system.  Uh, no.  It brings them into the system, but these students are not learning side-by-side.  They are learning with students who have the same beliefs as them, but not those who believe something different.  So while I do like his idea, and I agree that the public funding system at the moment is discriminatory, he is not helping his case.

Howard Hampton, funny enough, seems to be fine with the status quo.  He has no problems with parents choosing to put their children in these private religious schools, but believes they should remain public, and not publicly funded.  But for low income families, there is no choice.  The champion party of the working class is denying those low-income families the option of enrolling their children in a faith based school (unless of course their faith is Catholicism.)  His view on this is such a non-view that I really don't even feel like spending on time on him.

McGuinty.  Goes on and on about how our students all study together, while opting to leave out the ever constant exception, the Catholics.  His point is essentially to promote inclusion by pretending our students have no faith.  Essentially, all students in the public system are religiously  "neutral" (unless they're Catholic).

But the public school system (and I'm not including the Catholic board here) is not religiously neutral, quite the contrary.  Our public school system is based on the Anglo-Canadian public school system, which is Christian.  Despite some efforts to make our schools 'multicultural', the system is still full of Christmas concerts and Easter bunnies.  Christian students are given holidays off to worship (or not) without even having to ask for them.  While by law students of other faiths may miss class without being penalized,  they are still responsible for learning what was taught during their own time afterwards.  There are many stories of muslim students who wish to pray, or leave school early in order to worship (the school system being Christian based gives all students Sunday off whether they want it or not), who are not allowed to without academic penalty.

Is there an easy solution to all this? No. Have I even brought up all the issues here? Of course not.  But these pompous men are annoying me to no end.  And so I am venting.  I just know things have to be fixed, although it will probably be a long time before that happens.

So commanderteddog came by to see my new kilt and made the mistake of jokingly suggesting we hit old hillsbrad.  I took her up on it!  And we cleared it, (sorry mbehemoth) with the help of two awesome pallys doing tanking and healing.  I died twice, but each time after in-combat rezzing our tank, so I didn't feel too bad.  No wipes.  :)

So did a run through of Blood Furnace earlier.  Actually had a pretty good group going.  Pally, shaman, me, hunter, and mage.  The mage had to leave after the first boss, so we replaced him with a 70 hunter.  The first hunter kept disconnecting which kinda sucked.  But I actually got to dps! Yippee!  Oh, and best of all...

Well, this has been a productive day so far.  Warcraft.  Nothing but WoW and Friends on DVD....

Although, I did finally ding to 56. /cheer.  Although also came to the realization that most of the rest of my Wildheart set is in Upper/Lower Blackrock Spire, and the chances of me getting into a successful raid group are next to nil.  So I may have to settle with my ugly pants.  They are so ugly!

Oh yes, I have noticed some people seem to think it is funny that I want posts.  They have taken to mocking my requests.  Well then... posts tell me that people are reading these ramblings... they prove my theories wrong.  Now you are mocking me wanting you to prove me wrong?  There is some very strange logic here...

I need more March Break....

Well, just had a productive night farming in Silithus (or, as productive as spending time in Azeroth can be I suppose...)  Finally got my leatherworking up to 285, and am 3/4 to level 56.  I am very excited.  Still not able to get through the portal to the Outlands, but a little closer.  Finally found a salt shaker to buy...stupid things.  Now I have to farm more mats for my very ugly pants.  I really need to get my Wildheart Kilt.  It looks so cool. 

Why is tomorrow Friday?  Why does my break have to be over already?  They always go by way too quickly... I think we need a month off, never mind this week crap.  It really does just go by too fast, so that by the time you start making use of your time, its done.  It must be some big corporate conspiracy *wink*

Anyhoo, it's late.  I need to start getting back to my sad schedule of early mornings and early nights.  This cannot do.  Need my beauty sleep before the weekend!

Oh yeah...people who wanted me to get an account SO badly....post something!  If not, it just goes to prove my theory that no one would ever want to read my jibberish and this is entirely a waste of time.  So really, the future of these ramblings is in your hands!  No pressure....

So mbehemoth finally got me an account.  It's driving me insane already.  He's sitting here laughing at me as we speak...apparently teaching me to do this is like teaching his parents...

So people actually log in to read this crap?  You have got to be kidding me....I'm not sure I would even want to read this again.

Anyhoo, back to school work...I can't believe it's Friday already.  Where did my March Break go?
